Interested in gaining experience in on-the-job training, habitat restoration, and trail projects throughout Austin, TX?

The Austin Civilian Conservation Corps (ACCC) is an initiative with the City of Austin and the Texas Conservation Corps of American YouthWorks, to provide on-the-job training opportunities, while contributing to the health and sustainability of Austin's natural environment.

Working on a crew, participants will complete conservation projects like invasive species removal, habitat restoration, wildfire mitigation, and trail building all throughout the City of Austin.

Applicants must be a current City of Austin resident and live within Austin city limits zip codes. Uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment will be provided. This is a full time position (40 hours/week, Monday-Friday). All skills levels are encouraged to apply!

AmeriCorps Term Lengths (1200 Hour)

Crew Leader - January 12, 2026 - September 4, 2026

Compensation

Crew Member: $2,400/month ($1,200 biweekly)
Crew Leader: $2,720/month ($1,360 biweekly)

Required and Preferred Qualifications

— High school diploma or GED
— Between the ages of 18-35
— US Citizenship or lawful permanent US Resident
— Must live within Austin city limits zip codes (1 year minimum preferred)
— Ability to pass a National Service Criminal History Check
— Ability to hike 3-12 miles per day in rugged terrain, often carrying tools
— Ability to lift up to 35 pounds repeatedly and use hand and power tools
— Willingness to work long demanding hours in all weather conditions
— Commitment to completing an entire term of service
— Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
— Strong service ethic and commitment to completing an entire term of service with a desire to serve the community and the environment
Crew Member only (preferred): Interest in natural resources, sustainability, community impact and racial equity and 0- 5 years of experience with relevant, transferable skills, willing to work outdoors year round in a variety of conditions
Crew Leader only (preferred): same as above AND 1 full term of experience in the Austin Civilian Conservation Corps or Park Ranger Cadet Program or experience as team lead or comparable lead position. At least 3-5 months of previous hands-on conservation experience including but not limited to: chainsaws, habitat restoration, invasive species removal, trail work (no experience is necessary for crew members).
Crew Leader only (required): Clean 3-year Driving Record
